Know what’s in the ground before you get there.
MarkPoint is a shared record of PLSS corners and NGS benchmarks recovered by land surveyors. It shows what was found, its condition, photos, state plane coordinates, and who found it and when. Use the iPhone and iPad app in the field and the website at your desk. In the field, the app uses your phone or iPad’s GPS to show where you are, so you can see yourself relative to every corner and benchmark on the map. One subscription covers both.
A Shared Record
Find Monuments Before You Leave the Office.
See every NGS benchmark and each corner other surveyors have recovered, with photos, condition and state plane coordinates. Check FEMA flood zones at any spot, post your own recoveries in the field even without signal, and export points to Trimble Access.
In the field, the phone’s GPS puts you on the map too, so you can see where you are relative to each corner and benchmark as you walk in to recover it.
Every recovery a surveyor posts makes the map more useful for the next crew headed to the same section.
What It Does
Corners, Benchmarks and Flood Zones on One Map.
Section Corners Other Surveyors Have Recovered.
Corners are shown over satellite imagery with BLM township, section and quarter-quarter lines. Each corner keeps its full history: the monument found, its condition, photos, and the state plane coordinates and zone it was tied in. Add a new corner by entering your coordinates, and MarkPoint fills in the section, township, range and meridian for you.
Every Published NGS Mark Nationwide.
Nearly 800,000 marks, with designation, stamping, height and a one-tap link to the official datasheet. Marks someone has recovered in MarkPoint are colored by condition; the rest show grey until someone posts a recovery.
Flood Zones at Any Spot.
FEMA’s flood hazard zones over satellite imagery, styled like FEMA’s own viewer: 100-year areas, floodways, 500-year areas and base flood elevation lines. Tap any spot, or use your location, for the zone, the base flood elevation, and the FIRM panel and effective date. Next to a benchmark with a published height, it’s a quick start on elevation certificate work.
Research at Your Desk.
Work on a large map with the same data, then export the points in view as a CSV for Trimble Access in your state plane zone, or as a full recovery record.
